My name is
Drawing is my passion. I realized that there is a special surprise for me, each time I move my hands and spread colors on canvas or draw simple lines on a piece of paper. Each stroke of color and line of gray brings beauty, happiness and blessings in my life. For this, I am eternally grateful to almighty Allah (God).
My artwork, especially Islamic calligraphy, represent visible body of the divine word and artistic expression of Islamic art and culture. Drawing sacred words of holy Quran is my way of saying "Thank you" to Allah (God) for creating the owe-inspiring universe. Nature inspires me to write Quranic verses, names of Allah and his qurba (beloved) in artistic and stylish way. Each time, I see nature's beauty in form of trees, plants, ocean, sky, stars, giant mountains and flying birds, I want to say "Thank you" to the universe for the wonderful gifts.
I get inspiration from the work of Guljee, Sadequain and early Islamic artists. Presently, I am working on combining western style abstract art with Islamic calligraphy. One may ask why Islamic art and western style of abstract art? History shows that during Fatimid and Mogul Empire, muslim artists presented Islamic values and culture in form of decorative art. Most of that decorative art was in form of non-figurative art and one of the example of non-figurative art is Islamic calligraphy. The difference I am bringing is while keeping the core value of non-figurative art of Islamic calligraphy, bringing in flavors of abstract art of the west to make more contemporary art . So far Islamic Calligraphy is limited to Islamic world and my goal is to bring Islamic art in western society with strong message of peace, unity, and harmony.
